October 30, 1846

Died on the 26th inst. Robert M. Black, Esq. aged about 60y. He was one of first settlers of county.

Died on the 31 inst.[sic], Mrs. Elizabeth G. Grey aged 42 years, wife of Rev. Jos. J. Grey. She was a member of the Presbyterian church and generally lamented.

November 14

Circuit Court: Case of Mabury for horse stealing continued. Trial of John Baxter for murder of Col. Davenport of Rock Island.

 Married 29 October by Thomas Moulton, Esq. near Greenbush, Mr. Henry C. Miller to Miss Louisa D. Bond.

 Married 4th inst. by Rev. John E. Murphy near Cold Brook, Mr. William Griffen to Miss Hannah Wallace daughter of Thomas C. Wallace, Esq.

 Married 8th inst. by Rev. A.J. Kane of Monmouth, Dr. William W. Lee to Miss Julie Davidson eldest daughter of E. Davidson, Esq. of this place.

 Married 20 ult. in Galesburg by Rev. L.H. Parker, Mr. Oliver H. Adams to Miss Sophia M. Hills, both of Galesburg.

 Died on the 6th November in New Boston, William H. Denison. Left widow & children.

 Died at St Louis in November of inflammation of bowels, George W. Lynde, merchant from Ainsworth & Rock Island. Left widow & 4 small children.

 Died (no date) in this city, Mrs. Martha Allen wife of Dr. Alfred A. Allen of Little York, age 20 years.

 Died the 7th inst. Robert W., youngest son of Jonathan & Martha French, aged 3 yrs.

 Arthur McFarland, deceased, late of Henderson Co. Jacob McFarland, Adm. gives notice on Jan. 4, 1847 for the purpose of settling and adjusting all claims. All persons indebted to estate should make payment without delay.

 Gen. James McCallon, deceased, late of Warren Co. James A. McCallan & Jonathan L. Allen, Exrs. gives notice for purpose of settling and adjusting the estate. All persons indebted to estate should make payment without delay.

 Notice to public: Wife, Almira left bed and board without any cause or provocation. Will not pay debts. Oquawka, Ill. 7 November 1846. Joseph Monteith.

All persons having claims against the estate of William C. Ellett, deceased, late of Henderson Co., should notify Lucinda Ellett, Adam. by Feb. next.

All persons having claims against the estate of Augustus Spence, deceased, late of Henderson Co., should notify Abner Drew, Adm. by February next.

 Died on the 11 December, Alexis Phelps, Esq. of Oquawka from congestive chill. He died at his residence after only a few hours illness. Names brother, S.S. Phelps. Deceased was severely affected by the loss in a short time of his daughter, Mr. Rise, his brother-in-law, Mr. Patterson, his son Alexis, and his niece, his brother Alexis' daughter. Deceased was born in Palmyra, Ontario (now Wayne Co.) New York in August, 1800. His father was Judge Stephen Phelps who removed from Palmyra to Canandaigua [sic]. Mentions brother Myron.  Died on the 17th inst. Mrs. Amanda, wife of  J.W. Perdeu, in her 20th year leaving 1 child.
