Henry D. Potter NE of SE 10-28-20 Henry D. Potter b. 22 Feb. 1817 d. 21 June 1875 m. 28 August 1839 in Williamson County, Tennessee Nancy M. Williams. She was b. 8 Feb. 1815 d. 17 July 1875. Both are bd. in Palmetto Cemetery in Greene Co MO (11-28-20) 

Henderson Potter b. 1828 in Tennessee. In 1855 he was taxed for NE of SE 24-28-21. He was granted the administration on estate of Jesse Conway in 1857.  

One James Potter was first listed on 1834 tax list two doors from James Potter Sr. One John S. Upshaw was between them. James Jr. would appear to be a son of James Jr., but was not listed on the 1820 nor 1830 census in Illinois. He is very likely the man who married Polly Upshaw in Polk Co. on 7 September 1837. The 1850 census of Greene Co. has him b. 1809 in Tennessee.

            He applied for bounty land on 9 April 1855 in Greene County. He gave his age as 44 years and stated that he served in the Black Hawk war volunteering in 1832 in Montgomery County, Illinois. He called himself “James Potter, Jr.” Samuel Brashears and Marshall B. Potter supported his application.

Another Elias Potter m. Greene Co. 2 September 1849 Sarah Vineyard. They were married by Bryant T. Nowlin. Nowlin lived near James Potter of Campbell Twp.  

Nancy M. Potter m. 23 August 1852 John H. Ragsdale. They were by Judge Charles Yancey.  

In 1855, the Bank of Missouri began civil action against a number of individuals for debts. Three of those individuals were William A. Potter, Solomon P. Potter, James Potter and Matthew Potter. In fact, three separate suits were filed against James. They all defaulted on their appearances. (Circuit Court September Term 1855)
